Position Overview
The Occupational Therapist (OT) supports scholars in developing the functional skills necessary to succeed academically, socially, and physically within the school environment. This role is critical in helping scholars access the curriculum and build independence through targeted, evidence-based interventions. The OT works collaboratively with educators, families, and multidisciplinary teams to deliver services aligned to each scholar’s Individualized Education Program (IEP).
Key Responsibilities
Student Support & Intervention

Provide occupational therapy evaluations and re-evaluations in accordance with IDEA guidelines

Develop and implement IEP goals related to fine motor skills, sensory processing, self-care, and school participation
-
Deliver direct and consultative OT services based on student needs
-
Utilize research-based strategies to improve access to instruction and engagement
Collaboration & Consultation

Partner with teachers to embed strategies into classroom instruction

Provide recommendations for accommodations, modifications, and adaptive equipment

Collaborate with Special Education staff, related service providers, and families
-
Participate in IEP meetings and multidisciplinary team discussions
Compliance & Documentation

Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant documentation of services and progress

Ensure adherence to federal, state (DESE), and district guidelines
-
Monitor and report student progress toward IEP goals
Capacity Building

Provide training and support to staff on sensory strategies, fine motor development, and classroom supports

Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement and growth mindset
Qualifications
Required:
-
Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy
-
Current Arkansas OT license (or eligibility for licensure)
-
NBCOT certification
-
Knowledge of IDEA, IEP processes, and school-based therapy practices
Preferred:

Experience in a school setting
-
Strong understanding of sensory integration and trauma-informed practices

Ability to work in a collaborative, fast-paced educational environment
